About
In Nigeria, there is a research institute dedicated to advancing oil palm and various other tree crops. Located in Benin City, Edo State, this organization was set up to support farmers by offering improved seeds and farming methods.
The primary objective of this institute is to enhance oil palm production, a significant crop in Nigeria. They focus on developing superior varieties of oil palm that yield more fruit and are resistant to diseases, enabling farmers to cultivate healthier and more productive crops.
The institute also provides farmers with training and assistance. They educate them on modern farming techniques and effective farm management. This training helps farmers boost their yields and increase their income.
Besides oil palm, the research institute also works on other crops such as rubber and cocoa. They conduct research to improve these crops, making them better adapted to local conditions. This effort contributes to strengthening the agricultural sector in Nigeria and supports the livelihoods of numerous farmers.
